You Can’t Legislate Morality
In today’s show we are going to talk about: You can’t legislate morality. And as I talk about various topics I want to make it very clear that I do not ever want to take away your right to make choices as you see fit. My intention is to open doors to possibilities of thinking in ways that you may not have thought before. I talk about controversial topics but do not in any way advocate that you need to think in the same ways. I don’t know how to make that any clearer. My position, if I can be said to have a position, is that we all have the right to think and act in whatever way we desire as long as it does not injure another person or encroach on their rights to be responsible for their own property. That’s it. I do not aggress against another and I do not want to be aggressed against. The old adage of live and let live applies to all of creation.
Now having said that, it does not stop me or you from having opinions and expressing those opinions. And there are some things that are just wrong. And by wrong I mean that they work directly against the continuation of the human species. Historically, the way that we have ensured the continuation of the species is through teaching morality to our children. The instruction in right and wrong behavior we received in whatever form from our parents are the basic guidelines to ensure we survive our own stupidity and tendency toward making choices that will kill us off and send us the way of the dodo bird.
Opinions expressed on this show are specifically for those that share my concerns or have similar opinions and want to act on them. Or perhaps you have concerns but have no opinion – or only the opinions handed to you by others and you just can’t see why those thoughts don’t ring true to your heart. Then you may be persuaded by my thoughts and conclusions based on my experiences. My thoughts may awaken your own thoughts and I welcome you to the cause and would love to hear your perspective. Together we can make a huge difference in the state of peace in the world.
